REVISION BREWING COMPANY
Revision Brewing Company was started by seasoned businessman Jeremy Warren. After founding Knee Deep Brewing in California, Warren relocated to Nevada in an effort to break into the region’s still-relatively unexplored beer market.
Even the most experienced beer consumer would find the choices of more than a dozen IPAs on the current tap list a little perplexing. One of the greatest places to buy a beer while in town is a vast open warehouse that seems cozy and friendly like a local taproom, despite the fact that Revision’s products are currently distributed in several states throughout the nation.
THE BREWER’S CABINET
The Brewer’s Cabinet’s best features include excellent beer, a straightforward but well-executed food menu, and a comfortable taproom. The legendary Tahoe beer from this brewery, a recipe that personifies the traditional artisan market, is made in three excellent incarnations.
Other excellent options are also available on the tap list, such as the Russian River Apparition Double IPA, which I likened to Pliny the Elder (a few hours to the west).
THE DEPOT
This facility has been a combined brewery and distillery since the day it opened in Reno’s enormous, magnificent railroad station, which had been empty for more than 20 years. Due to the Central Pacific Railroad’s substantial contribution to Reno’s development, the region has a rich and intriguing history.
The Depot, a gorgeous landmark acting as the hub of the area, is close to the city’s center. Undoubtedly beneficial are trips to the beer and liquor sections, but after dinner, a trip to the kitchen is required.
GREAT BASIN BREWING CO.
Great Basin is deserving of the title of greatest spot to start drinking in Reno because it is the oldest brewery in Nevada. This nearby company is a fantastic illustration of how and why the craft beer industry started. Great Basin was formed in 1993 by Tom Young and Eric McClary. It presently runs out of two locations, provides delectable food at both, and produces more than 11,000 barrels of beer annually, which is available all throughout Northern Nevada and as far south as Las Vegas.
The brewery has earned a lot of praise, and rightfully so. The brewery’s first beer, Ichthyosaur IPA, was named after the official state fossil. It still follows the original recipe and hasn’t altered much over time. Scytal is an imperial stout that is only available once a year and competes with some of the top brands.
BRASSERIE SAINT JAMES
Since winning Best Mid-size Brewpub at the Great American Beer Festival in 2014, Brasserie Saint James has been making headlines and encouraging beer enthusiasts to take Reno seriously.
The wide range of gastronomic offerings, which include treats like duck confit cassoulet, and the Belgian-inspired bee make the ideal meal companions, complement one another beautifully. Two remarkable beers that have won gold medals are 1904, an American brett, and The Daily Wages, a saison. Saint James Infirmary, its older sibling, is also not too bad.
THE EDDY
In the winter, The Eddy, a riverfront patio bar in downtown Reno, is closed (yes, Reno experiences actual winters, unlike southern Nevada). Along with 24 beers, 10 wines, and beverages on tap, this “collaborative public venue” offers live music, fitness courses, art, games, and snacks.
The arrival of food trucks makes for a well-rounded, all-day stop throughout the warmer months.
