The largest sporting goods store in the world features two 16,000 gallon fish tanks, a walk of presidents, a fudge shop, a shooting range, bowling lanes, and a ferris wheel. The Walk of Presidents has an animatronic Abraham Lincoln and 14 wax figures of prior presidents, some of whom you might recognize.
Rail City Casino
On the western side of Sparks Victorian Square is a casino and restaurant called Rail City Casino. There are surely hundreds of video reel, poker, and keno machines in this two-room casino that you’ll enjoy playing. When playing blackjack, try the Royal Match side bet. Huffaker Park
The Huffaker Park Lookout Trail allows for a delightful stroll around and over a couple hills near to Huffaker Park in a suburban region south of Sparks. This untouched rural paradise offers stunning views of the surroundings in every direction.
The Huffaker Park Lookout Trail complies with ADA requirements thanks to its compacted gravel surface and decomposed granite tread. However, it is a somewhat steep climb from Huffaker Park to the main trail. The area is under the control of the City of Reno.
The Huffaker Park Lookout Trail goes around both hills. Hikers have the option of making a figure-8 by taking the path that runs between the hills and connects the outer trails, or they can traverse the entire circle. Even though they are unauthorized, there are distinct use paths from the main trail to the summit of each hill, where you may take in even more breathtaking views.
As you drive, make sure to look out for the informational signs that describe the area flora, fauna, and geology. If the weather is right, wildflowers like desert peach in the spring and flowering rabbitbrush in the fall may be seen.
The lookout at Huffaker Park Once you have ascended the short distance to the main path, the route is spacious and smooth. There is a gazebo sitting on the west side of the path. Take time to unwind and enjoy this view of the Truckee Meadows. The loop is completed with a 1.7-mile hike.
Depending on where you are along the path, you can pretty much see the entire valley. From the peaks of the two hills, hikers can nearly view the whole region, from the Virginia Range in the east all the way around to the Carson Range, which contains Mt. Rose, in the west. Twin Peaks, which are visible from the east, is the highest peak that can be reached from the Huffaker Hills Trailhead hiking area.

Last Chance Joe
Everyone is WELCOMED by the enormous cartoon character at the Sparks Museum in Nevada. Although he may appear to be a random roadside sight, he actually has a fascinating past.
Last Chance Joe was created in 1952 by Roscoe E. “Duke” Reading for Richard L. “Dick” Graves’ Last Chance Café. Before gambling was made illegal in Idaho in 1953, Graves also owned and operated pinball and slot machines there. The Reno Nugget, Graves’ first casino, opened for operation in the same year. Last Chance Joe was presented as a gold miner in the ads for the casino.
In order to concentrate on one casino, Graves sold his other three. He opened his fourth in the Nevada city of Sparks in 1954. In order to advance Last Chance Joe, he sent the designs to Rempel Manufacturing Reading. After considerable haggling, Rempel was granted permission to use the figurine in their “Little Folks from Sunnyslope” line of merchandise. One of the company’s top-selling toys was the character.
